And the Fun Keeps Coming....

>> Tuesday, November 6, 2018

Almost a month ago exactly we had a roof leak from the rains were were having.  I came home from Time Out For Women and Jared met me at the door as I was walking into the house and said, "We have a leak in the kid's bathroom."

He was trying to replace some of the old hardware. In Arizona everything is calcified. It's pretty much impossible to get things go budge because our water is so hard. So in trying to get the old hardware out he ended up twisting it and it caused a leak in the wall.

See the center piece that's twisted? That's supposed to be straight. :P

We are not plumbers and didn't know what to do so late on a weekend and 5 smelly people still needed showers! With a couple of phone calls to our Ward family we had 3 amazing men show up to help us! I can't express our gratitude enough for their service! They truly saved the day! I love our Ward! ๐Ÿงก

Bro. Ashton and Bro. Brimhall arrived first.

They couldn't access the pipes on the bathroom side, so they had to cut a hole in on the living room side. They tried for about an hour to weld the pipe where it was leaking but it was just too far gone. They were in over their heads and it was time to call a plumber.

Thankfully, we had one in the ward, we just hadn't heard back from him yet. But we gave him another call and Bro. Day came and rescued us! :)

He was able to get things in place but it was getting late. He couldn't finish that night. He was able to cap things off at least so we could get showers in the master bath. We were very grateful for that!!

He came back on Monday and had to cut the hole bigger. He got the pipes all lined up and things put back together. We offered to pay him and he wouldn't accept it. I can't say how Grateful we are for him!!!๐Ÿงก

We need to let the wall and insulation dry out for about a week. Once it's dry Bro. Brimhall said he'll come back and patch it up for us. I mean....can we be more fortunate? Thankful, thankful, thankful!!!

Time Out For Women - Centered In Christ

>> Sunday, November 4, 2018

AnnMarie and I went to TOFW again this year. We went last year for the first time and LOVED it. We were both looking forward to going again and being spiritually uplifted! This year did not disappoint!! <3

There were several women from our Ward that went this year and we all sat together.

The speakers were so good and I came away with so much I want to study and work on. One of which is becoming the best version of myself, and digging deep to discover what that looks like for me.

I'm so grateful we got to go and soak in all of the speakers insights and wisdom.

This poem was given by Zandra. She is one of the 'Sistas In Zion'. She read it like she was on fire and she was taking us all to CHURCH! It was incredible!!

Anthony Sweat was a new speaker to me. He was so smart and so funny and reminded me so much of Walker. I loved his talk and I can't wait to get his new book. :)

It was a great time with great friends and great speakers! Can't wait to do it again next year!

We Have a Diagnosis!

>> Friday, November 2, 2018

We finally have a diagnosis!

It's pneumonia.

Eli is still feeling awful. His cough is worse, fevers are still high. The dr. wanted to be sure that the E.R. didn't miss anything and ran a strep test, flu test and he got another chest x-ray. The test were negative but the x-ray did show he had some hazing in the lung. So he set him up with a z-pack. So grateful to finally be able to DO something for him. He's missed so much school and has never been this sick before. :(

Just to recap for everyone... 2 kids, 2 ER visits, 3 days hospitalization, 2 cases of pneumonia, 1 month! ๐Ÿ˜•

Halloween & the E.R.

>> Wednesday, October 31, 2018

So our Halloween started out with a bit of a 'scare'....literally!!!

Eli's been running high fevers since yesterday. This morning he passed out and lost consciousness for a little bit and was shaking like it might have been a seizure. I did the best I could to catch him so he didn't hit his head. He's not a little boy anymore, and it certainly wasn't graceful, but I was able to help him to the ground. Lol!

I got him a pillow to put under his head once he came to and could respond. I've never seen anyone pass out like that before. It was really scary!

I called his doctor and explained what happened and she felt it was necessary for us to go to the E.R. for some tests.

I was teasing him saying he decided to dress up as an E.R. patient for Halloween. LOL! It didn't get any laughs. :P

He was NOT happy about this! He hates needles and they of course always draw blood. He was whiter than white when they came to draw it. He has beautiful veins and he said the pain isn't even the worst part, it's the thought of the needle being inside of his body. :/

He was a trooper though and he survived! :) We did however deny the IV. He probably could have used it but he wasn't about that life! LOL!

He got some x-rays too. This mobile machine was pretty slick!

We were there for several hours. Halloween is a busy day I guess. They discharged him and didn't really give us any diagnosis. His labs were good and his x-ray was clear. So we left the hospital without a diagnosis.

Thankfully, earlier in the day Brynne offered to come over to take Alayna Trick-or-Treating. It worked out so perfectly!

She saved the night for her while we were at the ER with Eli. She is such a an amazing young woman! So grateful for her! ❤️❤️❤️

Spirit Week

>> Tuesday, October 30, 2018

This week has been Spirit Week at Alayna's school. They were supposed to dress up as a Disney character. She had no idea what she could throw together but at the last minute she found an idea and it worked out so well!!!

Can you tell who she's Disney Bounding as???

If you guessed Bert from Mary Poppins you are correct!

I thought she was very clever! :)

Trunk-or-Treat and Boog's 40th Surprise Party!

>> Sunday, October 28, 2018

Halloween is quickly approaching and our Ward had our annual Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday night! :)

Our kids are growing up but Alayna and Eli still dressed up this year.

Alayna was Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games. We practiced that fancy braid all week!! LOL!

A couple of her friends...cute girls.

Eli and the young men and young women in the ward ran all the games and booths for the younger kids to play. His was the Donut Pinata.

They tied a string to whichever donut the kid's picked then they had to try to bite it off the string while they bobbed it up and down making it hilarious and difficult for the kids.

By the way, Eli went as a "Bread Winner". He wore a gold medal and carried around a (squishy foam) loaf of bread. We were REALLY surprised at how many people have never heard of that term!! Do they live in a cave???? LOL!

Jared photo-bombed our pic. :P

Jared and I had to leave about an hour into the party to run over to Boog's surprise 40th bday party. His birthday is actually on Halloween. I've always thought that was kinda fun!

Our family doesn't take pics together very often so I wanted to be sure to get a couple. Unfortunately, my sister wasn't able to make it.

It was a nice small gathering of friends and family. My "little" brother has joined the 40 Club. LOL! Happy birthday Noonie! :P

The Melchizedek Priesthood

>> Sunday, October 21, 2018

Today was a blessed day! ๐Ÿ™

Walker received the Melchizedek Priesthood. My heart is full! ❤️❤️

Jared conferred the Melchizedek Priesthood upon Walker today with the help of Bishop Schnepf, Bro. Williams, Bro. Durfee and Bro. Hatch from the Stake High Council.

The Spirit was so sweet and beautiful as Jared performed this sacred ordinance. He spoke about so many important things to help Walker as he prepares for his future. It was so moving and powerful. <3

Bishop Schnepf and Bro. Hatch bore tender testimonies about the power of the Lord's Priesthood. They spoke about always being worthy to call upon the powers of heaven. That through the Priesthood he can use it to not only bless others through healing and comfort blessings, but in his everyday life. They spoke about him preparing to go to the Temple and taking out his Endowments and preparing to serve a mission.

They counselled  him to give his mom his first blessing. <3 I have no objections to that! :) Number one,  so he'll always remember who he gave his first blessing to. And number two, it will be in the comfort and safety of his home surrounded by people who love him and in his own language. On a mission it can get a little more complicated if you have to learn another language and when you don't know the people that well yet.

Tears were shed and hearts were overflowing with gratitude. He's making good choices in his life that will take him where the Lord will have him go.

I love this young man with all my heart!!! I'm so grateful to be his mom and have a front row seat in all he does...even if I get teased by him for being too mushy. :P
