Alayna's Summer Quilt!

>> Monday, July 31, 2017

This summer Alayna and I started working on a quilt together. It's been such a fun project for us. I've loved our girl time! We finally finished it today!! 😀💕She's so excited!

PS.. I know the teepees are going different directions. It's how she wanted it. 😜 She clearly didn't inherit the OCD gene from her Dad whose eye twitches every time he looks at it! Hahahaha! 😵💗🤣😂

Family Temple Day- July

Family Temple Day!!💒 We wanted to go to the Mesa Temple today but it was closed. 🙁 So we drove Temple to Temple today! Lol! Love my little family!

Our 20th Anniversary!!!

>> Wednesday, July 26, 2017

Happy 20th Anniversary to us!!  Hard to believe we've made it to this milestone. We've created a beautiful family and life together. We are rich in all the things that matter most. Thankful to this man and that he's my partner in crime! Love you!

We had a simple celebrations this year. We went to dinner and movie and spend the day reflecting on the last 2 decades we've spent together. It was a lovely day!

Pinkie Pie

>> Monday, July 24, 2017

Alayna has been begging to dye her hair pink. We finally did it!

1st you have to bleach out the hair so the color will show up.

I kind of liked it just like this! :P She hated it though..LOL!!

Then somehow we didn't take a pic of the finished product. :( I'm not sure what happened. But just use your imagination that the pink in her hair was about 100 times brighter and bolder than it is in the pics below. Swimming in chlorine everyday really pulls the color out fast! This is what it looks like now after almost 2 weeks! I really wish you could see the difference in it. It was really cool looking! :P

The entire swatch of hair was dyed an awesome shade of  pink!!! Now it looks like just the top by her roots have a faded version of it left.

It was fun to try and she loves expressing herself! :P

Alayna had her volleyball playoffs today!

They played their 1st game against Ice.

They played really well and pulled together as a team. They won and moved on to the final round!

They played Evergreen for the title!

Tornadoes started out strong but something happened and they started trailing behind. Evergreen took 1st place in the end.

The Tornadoes came such a long way from where they began the season. Alayna has turned into a completely different player! Today's game her passes and volleying were excellent!!!

2nd Place is just fine with us!!!

It was a great first season for her and she's excited for the fall season in just a couple of months! <3

Reminder of God's Tender Mercies....

>> Friday, July 21, 2017

Facebook is on a roll. One year ago today:

"Do you believe in miracles??? I do!!! ❤️ We got the test results back for all 3 kids and Jared and they are all negative!! I don't know how Jared didn't get it. He was with me the entire time I was in the ICU (and didn't always wear the gown, gloves, and mask he was supposed to wear). He helped me in and out of bed, helped dress me, helped me to the restroom, he helped me to do everything while I was so contagious! I'm SO thankful!!! ❤❤❤️ God is good!!!"

I remember feeling SO much relief about the family testing negative. We were in the midst of 1/2 of them with stomach bugs and I wasn't 100% confident it wasn't cdiff. My heart was so full! I still am amazed that Jared was negative!

It's also been a really good reminder to me. I've been struggling the past 13 months with PTSD/ Anxiety about contracting it again. Reading again that Jared was in the fox hole with me in the hospital and that he didn't get it, it helps me a little to feel like maybe it isn't as contagious as my mind has trained itself to believe.

I'm so grateful for this reminder and God's tender mercies!

Hello From Grandma

My friend and RS President and I have common relatives. She was in Utah for a wedding and she sent me these pictures saying she spoke to my Grandma Betty McClendon and that she wanted her to tell me Hello! :)

It was such a sweet surprise! I haven't seen her in several years. She just turned 89 last month! :)

She is my mom's step-mom. The woman pushing her is my aunt and my mom's 1/2 sister Christine Long. Their brother William (Bill) is the Grandfather of groom.

The young man is Grandma's Great Grandson & Bill's Grandson. His name is David and his bride's name is Kathleen. I "think" I have that right. If not there might be another Great in there. :P

One Year Ago....

>> Thursday, July 20, 2017

Facebook reminded me of what life was like for me one year ago today:

"My test came back negative today. However, I have to go back in 10 days for another lab to make sure it's actually gone. I'm not sure if I can feel relief yet but I'm apprehensively hopeful.  Please continue to pray that this will be completely gone.Thank you for all of your prayers! ❤❤❤"

I remember feeling so apprehensive. The doctors didn't help either. They had told me false test results could happen and that I'd have to do a repeat test to be absolutely sure. I was already in the deepest of depression and anxiety it didn't take much to make me feel like my world was spinning or that something was going to go wrong. I didn't feel I could rest easy until I got the 2nd lab results back. I was a nervous wreck. I felt like things could be moving in the right direction but I couldn't let my heart feel it yet.

Flash Flood!!!

>> Wednesday, July 19, 2017

A few months ago Alayna and I gave some fairies a beautiful little home.......

Last night, a flash flood ripped through their community after the Monsoon hit hard....

We were so sad! :(

We were able to recover everyone and when they mend they will rebuild!!! :D

It's here! The Championships!

Alayna was nervous about the night. We almost thought it would be cancelled due to lighting and rain. Thankfully both stayed far enough away until after the meet!

Alayna swam great but she was a little off tonight. In her 1st race she forgot which stroke she was doing and that gave her a slower time. Her new swim suit was also an issue. Every time she dove in, she had to take a second to pull her bottoms back up!! LOL! Darn it! We should have thought of that! :( She also swam all afternoon with  a new friend and it showed in her swimming that she was tired from it.

She still did awesome...but we know she could have done better. Live and learn.

50m Breaststroke. 4th lane.

She placed 2nd!!

25m Butterfly. 3rd lane.

3rd Place!!!

She also improved her time from last week by .08 seconds! :)

100m Individual Medley. 3rd from the right lane.

7th Place!

She took home a silver and bronze medal! She got a ribbon for 7th place.

We are so proud of her hard work and commitment this season. It was tough getting up at 6:30am every morning for practice! But she loves swim and she finished the season strong! Way to go Laney!!!!
