Eli Ordained a Teacher

>> Sunday, April 30, 2017

Before church Eli decided he wanted to make dinner. He wanted to make chicken fettuccine alfredo in fact. I was rushing around and I thought that would be awesome to get a little help so he took charge and got things going in the crock-pot so it would be ready by the time we got home. I sure love that kid!!! He loves to cook! I love to let him cook! <3

Jared snapped this of him while I was getting dressed...LOL!! He decided my Minnie Mouse dress apron would be the perfect choice! He cracks me up!!! :P

But honestly he's such a great help! You are welcome ladies! He is going to make a wonderful husband one day! :)

After church Eli was ordained to the office of a Teacher!!

I am so proud of the choices he is making in his life!! Witnessing him receive this priesthood by his father was such an amazing gift! And to witness his brother who holds the office of a Priest also stand in the circle and participate brought me to tears. These 3 men in my life mean the world to me!!! I'm so grateful for their example and strength they bring into our home.

Congratulations Eli!!!!!

Girls Weekend!!

Every year the boys go camping at the Father and Son's Campout and that leaves Alayna and I home to play and paint the town red together!!! :)

However, this year the boys' friends had a bunch of conflicts and so the turnout was going to be low this year. They decided to stay home instead and do some bonding here at home. Saturday night we found out it was probably a good thing they didn't go...it ended up snowing and everyone was miserably cold!!! Yikes!

Friday night we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. She wanted STEAK! :) That girl loves her beef! LOL! Then we went to see "Born in China".

But before we could do that, she had to get herself a "large" Icee first! LOL! I don't know where she put it all! :P She must have a hollow leg!

The move was a nature type film that follows pandas, snow leopards, & golden monkeys. The movie was so cute and had GORGEOUS views of landscapes. The message at the end was beautiful as it talked about how when we die we aren't really gone. I teared up! <3 Alayna was cracking up through out the show and we left feeling like we spent a wonderful night together! :)

Saturday we got Bosa donuts and lazed around the house for a while. She was craving a spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy's so we rand over there for lunch on our way to JoAnn's and Big Lots. We had an idea we cooked up and needed to gather up the supplies!!! :)

We got home and started working on our project. We were glad Jared was home after all because we needed a little muscle to help us out. :P

Moving dirt is hard work!! :P

Her expression is so funny! :)

 I love Jared's smile! :D

It was actually dark by the time we finished everything. It was too dark to take pictures so we decided we'd wait until the morning for good light. We went to dinner at Panda Express, her choice again! ;P I think we like to eat!!! LOL!!!

So here is the BIG REVEAL.....DRUM ROLL......

We made a Fairy Garden!!!!!!!!!

We had a BLAST doing this project. It was so much fun looking at all of the different tiny tiny things we could choose from to make it just the way we wanted it! We spend a good couple of ours at the store actually! Hahaha! We just had such a hard time choosing! Tiny things are so adorable!

I let her plan the whole thing out. She chose the figures and where to place everything. I think it turned out cuter than I had even imagined! Alayna is so creative!

This weekend was so much fun! I love spending time with my girl. These weekends are a real treat!!! We talked, shopped, shared, giggled, and stuffed ourselves silly! :P The weather this weekend was the cherry on top! It was absolutely  GORGEOUS!!!

We can't wait to do it again soon! The boys are for reals going on a trip in June for a week. The Scouts are planning a River Trip and Jared gets to tag along. It's pretty awesome!

So I'm already gathering ideas of what Alayna and I can do for a whole week!!! It should be great! :)

Jared's MRI Results

>> Friday, April 28, 2017

Jared went to the neurologist in March and had an MRI on Tuesday. His last one was done at the end of 2012. We just got the results back yesterday and unfortunately it's not the news we were hoping for.

He has 3 new lesions. One on his brain, C-spine, and thoracic spine. The Dr. said they were not "active" so they occurred a while ago....sometime between 2013 and now. She said he's not taking his medication, he's only 40 years old, and there is no cure for MS. But there are things he can do to help slow down the progression and prevent disability.

When the doctor was talking to me and said "disability" a wave just hit me like a ton of bricks. We've known for 9 years now that he has MS. His is catagorized as "relapse and remitting", meaning he lives a fully functioning active life 99% of the time. When an episode strikes he usually ends up in the hospital with different symptoms like memory loss and loss of motor function. It's easy to forget he lives with this autoimmune disease. The reality of his disease struck me hard when she talked about the progression of this illness and that it's very possible he will become disabled at some point. It was sobering to say the least.....

Diet, exercise, and reducing stress are the first line of defense. The doctor also recommended we look into a new drug that was just FDA approved on March 28, 2017. It's brand new! They just treated their 1st patient in their office on Wednesday. It's called Ocrevus. It is an infusion given every 6 months. In the trials they have said there are little side affects. But we will be researching it more and see what the studies and information say to be safe. With it being such a new drug I have concerns about long term affects and sometimes taking a drug can cause more problems than the actual problem you are having. I want to make sure we do our homework first. She also mentioned something about it being a B-cell depletor. I had to look up what that meant. This is what came up:

"The major goal of B cell depletion therapy is to destroy malignant B lineage cells or autoimmune disease producing B cells in patients with cancers or autoimmune diseases, while at the same time retaining protective B cell immunity."

This news also hit Jared pretty hard. He said he knows he's been living in denial and not taking care of himself the way he should. He also has been carrying a tremendous load between working full-time, his busy church calling, going to school practically full-time, taking care of his family and having MS! He has been spread too thin and these new lesions are evidence of that. Stress is a major contributor to MS episodes.

After lots of prayer, thought and heavy hearts the decision was made to drop 2 of the 3 classes he is taking this semester. He was really struggling with feeling like he was failing and not able to meet this goal he set for himself with school. His graduation plan will have to be re-visited. He was hoping to graduate in May/June of next year with Walker.

Depending on how he feels after this semester he will decided what he feels he can reasonably handle and reassess his grad plan. It may just end up being 1 extra semester out from his original plan. We'll just have to wait and see.

Jared is such an amazing husband and father. His example to all of us is incredible. He is the rock in our family. The voice of reason. The protector. The provider. We are so blessed to call him ours. We love him and we want him to be around a long, long, long time. Any prayers you'd like to offer on his behalf are always welcome! <3

Walker's Golden Scholar Ceremony

>> Wednesday, April 26, 2017

Walker had his Academic Ceremony today. This year makes 8 consecutive years he's qualified!!! We are so proud of his hard work!!! <3 <3

That's no small accomplishment! He carried a heavy academic load again this year and has been able to manage his responsibilities.

Walker went up to the stage and Jared and I were all ready with a big cheer and a woot woot and then the person reading the name cards said, "Chase Williams."

Jared and I were shocked and didn't realize what was happening until it was too late. The little stinker and his BFF Chase switched name cards, handed the incorrect name to the announcer, and oh so calm and cool sauntered across the stage thinking to himself he's the funniest guy in the room!!! Hahahaha!!!!

And then Chase did the same thing and the announcer read, "Walker Kitch."

They were worried their little trick might not work because the announcer knew Chase, but I think he was just too nervous to do anything but read the name that was handed to him! :P

Meanwhile, Jared and I, Chase's parents and the students were all doing a double take and then laughing along with him!! What a prankster!!!!

Or as Walker would like me to call it....a shenaniganizer! :P

He's such a crack up!!! The whole time I kept saying, "I can't believe he did that that little turkey!!!" LOL!!!

But that's what High School is for...to have fun...and to play tricks on your parents! :P

We of course had to get some funny pics of them switching certificates too!

These boys have been BFF's since they were barely able to walk. They met in the Nursery in our church when they were just 18 months old!

This picture was taken their 2nd year of Golden Scholars when they were in the 5th grade. I'm not sure why we don't have their 4th grade pic together?? Every year they have made it! Boy they sure have grown up!!!!!! <3 Next year they will be Seniors! It's really hard to think about that just yet...

Ok this is better....everyone is straightened out now. ;)

Isn't he so handsome all suited up!?!?!! Love that boy!

We are so proud of you Walker. You have proven year after year that education is important to you. You excel in your studies and are a wonderful example to everyone who knows you. Your brother and sister are so lucky to have you as their big brother to look up to and a role model. We couldn't be more grateful to you for being such a shining example!!!

Congratulations son!!!

Mamaw You Really Had Us Worried!!!

>> Tuesday, April 25, 2017

Earlier this month Jared's mom was found unresponsive at home by his step-dad. She was rushed to the hospital and running high fevers. She was weak, unable to hold anything in her hands from shaking so badly, her appetite was non-existent, she had stomach pain and couldn't keep anything down. She just worried all of us! None of her tests came back showing what could be causing this sudden onset of illness and she'd been there about a week!

They released her and 2 days later she was sent to a larger hospital in Fort Worth to get better care. She spent another week there and they also were unable to find the cause. They finally released her to a rehab facility closer to her home and Jared's sister Julie flew out to be with both their mom and step-dad. It has been a very long month for them.

On Saturday we got this picture from Julie saying Rita's spirits were higher, her energy is returning slowly and she was even laughing a little. We were all SO thankful!!! We have been praying our hearts out for her!!!

Some people aren't as lucky as I am. I love my in-laws! Rita is truly an angel on earth! She has blessed my life in so many ways. Her example of sacrifice, unconditional love, faith, strength, and being an amazing mother have helped me to become  better. Anyone who comes to know her loves her! She is not my mother-in-law, she is my mom too!

Two days later- which is today,  we were all VERY excited to get this picture!!!

She's HOME!!!!

Oh this makes our hearts jump with joy!!! We love her so much and have been so concerned. The doctors still don't have any answers and that's really frustrating but we are glad she's on her way to recovery and being home is the BEST place to do that! There is no place like home!!!!

Love you Mamaw!!!

Update: I was talking with Rita last night and asking if the Dr.'s had any new information about what caused her to become so ill. This was her reply:

"We aren't sure, but the one that the rheumatologist had put me on a couple of weeks before my "shutdown" was called Graleise, which was an extended-release gabapenton. Before that, I had been getting infusions every 8 weeks of Simponi Aria (golimumab) a chemo drug.  I am choosing not to go back on any of these. The past month has been a journey back from the edge of death, and I have learned much. but I don't want any repeat lessons."

I don't blame her one bit!! It's been quite an ordeal.

Family Temple Day- April!

>> Sunday, April 23, 2017

Our New Year's Resolutions is still going strong! We had our Family Temple Day yesterday!!

We decided to go to breakfast first this time. It was a good decision!! We went to the Henhouse in Gilbert and we were all BIG BIG FANS!!! Everyone was head over heels with what they ordered! I think it's our new favorite place! The potatoes, chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy were amazing!!! <3

Ok, enough food talk...on to the important stuff! :)

Breakfast took a while and it was close to noon by the time we got to the Temple. The boys were in and out in a flash! Under an hour! The Temple was packed with weddings! Alayna and I counted at least 3 brides! :)

Alayna and I walked around a little and gushed over the beautiful new brides and their dresses. :P We decided to go to the back of the Temple and found some shade to have a lesson on how we can know our Savior.

We did a little handout together and looked up some scriptures that taught us that just like any relationship or friendship we have, it takes effort on our part. The same is true if we want to have a friendship and a relationship with our Savior!!! <3

Prayer (talking to our friends), keeping the commandments (keeping our promises with our friends), love the Savior (love our friends), know Him (learn about our friends, interests, likes, character), believe in Him and all that He created and that He has provided a way for us to receive a remission of our sins (trust our friends), and draw near unto Him and He will draw near unto us (every relationship requires our time and effort). She chose one that she wanted to work on this month and she chose love! We then watched a short little video called "I Am A Young Woman And I Believe" on the Mormon Channel. It went perfectly with our lesson!

It was a beautiful day with the family at the House of the Lord. We love to feel close to our Savior and are so grateful for this time of year and the chance we have to reflect a little more about His life and all He has done for us. We are learning together how to come to know Him more personally. Families are the most precious gifts He gave us to help us as we each have joys and struggles in life. He knew we couldn't do it all on our own! Families can be eternal and I'm so beyond grateful that I will be with my little family forever! <3

Eli's 14th Birthday!!

>> Saturday, April 22, 2017

Eli had his 14th Birthday on the 14th! We didn't forget...he just "hates" having his picture taken and I was finally able to negotiate with him to let me do it today! Sinker!!! :P

Eli brings so much life into our family! He's hilariously funny, smart, kind, and always up for an adventure! He makes everyone around him feel special. <3 He's really come into himself this year and its been so neat to see!

He has a mind for puzzles and is amazing at solving problems. He can look at something and work it out in his head before you even have a chance to process it!

He has an unhealthy love for Memes and is constantly spouting them off around the house. And he REALLY loves it when I start to repeat them back! haha!

Keks, Fam, Dab, Got 'em, and Triggered are heard around here non-stop!! :P

He's made some really great friendships this year and has become a leader. People are drawn to him. He's supportive, and has a great ability to help others to see how great they are. He includes everyone (not matter how young or old)  and is always cooking up some crazy fun thing to do! He rarely sits still. He's constantly on the go...he's been this way since he was born. :) He has a tender heart and really has so much compassion and love for others. He's also pretty handsome! All the girls are all  ga-ga over him! LOL!!! Sometimes that's a blessing and a curse! :P

Happy 14th Birthday son!!! We love you!!! (Dab :P )

Alayna's 1st Academic Night!!!

>> Thursday, April 20, 2017

Alayna is in the 4th grade this year and this is the first year students are eligible to qualify for Academic Night/Golden Scholars. She has been working her tail off all year. She had a few close calls because of illnesses but she pulled through and earned herself a spot to take part in this big night!!!

We couldn't be more proud of her! She's a smart girl and smart girls ROCK!!! :)

The whole family came out to support her. The boys are old hats at this. They give her a lot to live up to and challenges herself. They were so sweet with her on the way there. Giving her lots of encouragement. Tonight was her night to shine!  :)

Can you believe what a beautiful young lady she is becoming? Sometimes I have moments when I look at her and can't believe my eyes! She's stunning!

The kids getting ready...

Some last minute tips before they head into the Cafeteria.

 Silly girl of mine! :P

I'm so sad this came out blurry...but her expression is priceless!!! She couldn't stop smiling! :)

The big moment.....drum roll.....

Congratulations sweetie!!! <3

Still smiling!!!! :)

Grandma and Grandpa Morrison came to cheer her on too! Not sure how Grandpa didn't get in this pic?

Her best friend Emmy made it too! Girls can do hard things!!! <3

So very proud of her!

Her teacher Mrs. Usrey. She's loved being in her class this year. She also has a cool British accent! :P

 Family selfie! LOL!

I had to get one with me and my girl!

It takes a lot of diligence and effort to maintain good grades. She is a bright girl and sets the bar high for herself and I love that about her! Setting goals and reaching them will serve her the rest of her life. My heart just swells with admiration and love for this amazing daughter of mine! <3
