Fall Break-2016

>> Tuesday, October 18, 2016

We had a low key Fall Break this year. Alayna, Eli and I were sick most of it. We did have the chance to go out together as family to eat lunch a couple of times and we went
to see "Magnificent 7".

It was really good but maybe a little over what Alayna was ready to watch. We tried reading the parent movie sites that help you decide. She just has a tender heart. We know next time to be more considerate.

One morning Eli and Alayna woke up and made waffles for everyone. They did a fantastic job!!!

It happens to the best of us! LOL!!!

We ran over to Walmart and the kids thought it would be fun to dog pile piggy back on Walker! LOL!!!

We were all laughing so hard!!! Hahaha!!! I'm sure the other shoppers thought we were crazy! That's ok...we were having a lot of fun! LOL!!!

Alayna and Eli had friends over several days and hung out.

Walker as I posted before got his driver's license this week and has been driving around now. It makes me so nervous but he's doing great! He took his PSAT's on Saturday and we are crossing our fingers he did well. Scholarships are heavily merited on your Jr. year scores. Now we just need to get him and Eli Eagle Scout Projects in the works! :)

I did manage to see my friend Amy on Thursday and she did some reflexology/trauma therapy work on me. It has been a HUGE help for my stress/anxiety. So grateful for her!

It wasn't as exciting as Disney or the the beach like some years but that's ok. We all needed some down time together. Sometimes what your soul needs is family! <3

Working Hard!!!

>> Thursday, October 13, 2016

I love this man.

He works so hard for our family. He works full-time, goes to school pretty close to full-time, has a very busy calling at church and still makes time for our family. I honestly don't know how he does it all. He inspires me. <3

I snapped this after he sat down on the couch to read Oedipus for his American Foundations class. It was about .2 seconds and I heard him snoring from the other room. LOL! I think the nap was well deserved!

Grateful for his example to me and to our children. This has been a life long goal he's had to get his degree. I'm so proud of him!

He still has about 2 years left. His goal is to graduate when Walker graduates High School in 2018.

Ready to Roll!!!

>> Wednesday, October 12, 2016

Walker finished his driving school and yesterday Jared took him down to take his driver's license test. They went to the DMV on Greenfield but the waiting list was a week long! That wouldn't do! So he took him to a 3rd party location. It was a little more money but they were able to get in same day. :)

There they are about ready to leave! :) I was so nervous!

The excitement looks like it's wearing off as they sit and wait! LOL!

That's him in the car about ready to leave for the road test. Hard to see inside. Sorry...

Jared texted me and said, "Sigh!"

I replied, "What?"

Jared, "We'll be back."

Me, "Did he not pass? How many tries does he get?"

He said, "I don't know yet."

This is what I got next.....

He totally tricked me!!!! What a butt! LOL!!!

So happy for Walker, He's put in a lot of hard work and time practicing for this day! Congratulations son!!!!! <3

NControl- Skid Car!

>> Tuesday, October 11, 2016

We enrolled Walker into a driving school a few months back. It has been the BEST thing to help him build confidence and knowledge about driving. It was a little pricey but we feel it has been so worth it!

Saturday he had his Skid Car Session. They take them out to a parking lot and help them learn several maneuvers. Three point turns, parallel parking, slalom, accident avoidance, and how to manage a skid. It lasted 3 hours.

Walker is there on the far right walking to the car. It's the only pic I have of him. :( Hard to take pictures inside the car with tinted windows. :P

Three point turn.

Parallel parking.

I don't have pics of the accident avoidance or slalom...bummer.

The car on the left is the skid car. If you look closely you can see the small wheels attached to the outside of the car. Those are hooked up to a computer that allows them to raise and lower the car to give the kids practice on recovering from a skid. It's pretty cool! I wish I could have tried it! :D

Here he is giving it a whirl! :) He did so awesome! I think everyone should take these classes. They do such an amazing job!

Today was his last driving session. He completed the course and is ready to take his road test tomorrow!! :)

Eli Learned to Shave

>> Sunday, October 9, 2016

It appears Eli is hitting some of these "milestones" a little sooner that Jared and Walker did. He's in the 8th grade this year and he's had a mustache and beard growing for a while. Jared decided it was time to get it under control. It wasn't really growing in uniformly so it was a little unruly in places. :P

Jared is giving him a "dry" run through before they begin.

The top left are his "befores" and the bottom right is his "after".

He did great! He didn't even cut himself! He looks so fresh and handsome! My boy is growing up too fast! <3

General Conference

>> Thursday, October 6, 2016

We had General Conference over the weekend. I love this time of year. I always learn so much from our Prophet, Apostles and other speakers. This year in particular I was looking forward to it more than ever. I've needed to be spiritually fed. I felt like so many of the talks were just what I needed to help me these next 6 months.

Here is a snippet of how we enjoy conference. I'm not sure why none of the food was captured but believe me there was mountains of food!! :)

Love hearing from our Prophet Thomas S. Monson. He is getting older and it is showing these last few conferences.

The kids felt like they needed a fort. It went through several transformations. This was the 1st.

I think it just helps them to feel like King Benjamin's people. :P

Between conference sessions nap. :P

They tricked it out pretty well in there. Lights, fan, games, coloring books!

Walker listening so intently. :)

I've already gone back over and re-read several talks, made notes, highlighted things that really spoke to my heart. It was a great weekend with my family and the Spirit. :)

Fall School Pictures- 2016

>> Wednesday, October 5, 2016

School pictures are trickling in. There was a mishap with the boys so I'll post those when then come back in. For now we only have Alayna's. Isn't she growing into a beautiful young lady?

Ok..so maybe we should have see the proof of the picture before we ordered Walker's...or at least had a retake done. I'm not sure what the photographers were thinking...LOL! Poor guy...I guess we all take some not so hot pics every now and then. :P

I've been struggling with some emotional things since being in the ICU this summer. I've been seeing a counselor and she has said that I have PTSD and anxiety. I've always struggled with anxiety over the years (and Postpartum Depression after having Eli) but not at this level and not with PTSD. It's been a completely overwhelming time in my life. The best way I can explain it is, it's like I'm watching a stranger from the inside out.

My counselor recommended that perhaps I not only need to look at the emotional part but the whole picture of my health. She had seen a Naturopath several years ago after she had acute pancreatitis. She felt that maybe I might benefit from what she did for her and others.

So Friday I finally went. She uses this machine that scans your body to look for deficiencies. Vitamin, hormonal, mineral, all sorts of things. I know, I know, sounds a little "woo-woo witch doctory" but I was willing to give it a try if it would help. I really respect my counselor who also happens to be a very close and dear friend. I trust her fully and feel she wouldn't steer me wrong.

This is what the scanner looks like. The appointment usually takes an hour but she was so wonderful and talked with me and explained things in great detail for me. It ended up being 2 hours.

In the end we found that I'm very depleted in several essential vitamins and minerals. Which I suppose makes sense since the infection I had took an amazing toll on my body and I was giving the doctors a good scare. They weren't quite sure how to help me, hence being in the ICU for almost a week.

She doesn't sell anything which also helped me to feel like she was there to help and not to push anything on me. She gave me the report and talked with me about what supplements I should take and the doses and how to add them into my diet and track how I feel as I slowly add them in.

It's been 4 days now. I started with adding in more B-complex vitamins and I have been able to see a difference. It almost seems too simple to be the answer. Over time I will add in more calcium, magnesium, B6, Kelp, & Hawthorn Berries. I won't go in to depth of why I need each supplement. I'm not a doctor and I don't want to diagnose or attempt to treat anyone else. These were specific to me and my body.

I'm hopeful as I continue to add in the other supplements I will continue to see more and more improvements. I firmly believe God will help us to find answers to our questions and healing. It sometimes takes longer than we like, but it's a journey.

Evening in Excellence

I've been in Young Women's now for a year at the end of October. It's hard to believe! Last week we had our Evening in Excellence program. It's a time for the girls to show what they have been working on all year in their Personal Progress. When they have completed the program they receive their Young Woman Medallion which is equivalent to a boy who receives his Eagle Scout Award. One of our Mia Maid's, Claudia, received hers that night! So proud of her! They also display their talents and this year we had them display their testimonies too. It was a beautiful evening. These Young Women strengthen me!!

Jared helped me design the invitations. They turned out so great!

The end of the evening we took a picture of all the Young Women and the Leaders. I think we were missing a few girls though.

Young Womens has been a challenging calling. These years are so important in their lives. They make big decisions right now that can have a large affect on their futures. I feel that weight as their Advisor. I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow with them.
