Primary Program 2016

>> Tuesday, September 27, 2016

It's that time of year again! The Primary Program for our Ward was Sunday. All of the Primary age children ages 3-11 years old put on a Program during Sacrament Meeting each year. They sing, recite their different parts, and play instruments. All testifying of Jesus Christ and His Gospel. The Program theme this year is "I Know The Scriptures Are True".

The children did a beautiful job! The Spirit was so strong and their sweet voices always bring me to tears. Alayna is our last one in Primary and her time is coming closer and closer to an end. I can't believe she is going to be 10 in a few months and entering Young Women's in just a couple of years!

I love her with all my heart! She is so funny, smart, creative, beautiful inside and out, thoughtful, generous, independent, strong, lovable, and has the biggest heart! Grateful I am blessed to be her Mother. She is my joy! <3

Big Decision!!!!

>> Monday, September 26, 2016

Hair seems to be a constant struggle with this one! We have the hardest time with the tangles and dryness that is innate with curly hair. Last week we just couldn't seem to control the beast any longer so Saturday we went for a haircut.

I was thinking we'd cut a few inches but on the way there Alayna decided she wanted it short...really short! As we talked with the stylist he showed her the different lengths ans she decided to go a little longer than she was planning but still much shorter than I was thinking!! LOL!!

He cut 10 inches off!!! That first cut was serious! LOL! I couldn't believe she was really doing it! :P

But she reminded me she know what she likes and once she decides she doesn't change her mind! :P

I think it turned out so cute!!! (Her hair is still wet in the after pic so it doesn't look exactly the way it will when it dries.) I'm grateful for a confident girl who knows her own mind and isn't afraid to be herself! She was so excited about her new look and told me she feels so fresh! :)

Yay for no more tangles and tear-filled mornings! :D

Pillow Fight!!!!

>> Thursday, September 22, 2016

The other night Jared and Alayna got into pillow fight. It was cracking me up. Jared wasn't' holding back AT ALL! Poor girl was getting pummeled!!! She did get a few good whacks in though! :P

He has NO MERCY!!! LOL!!

She tried to hold her own and got a few good hits in! :P

This pic is blurry but look at the joy on Jared's face!! He's a little "too" happy!!! LOL!!!!

Knock down!

Walker was beginning to feel sorry for her so he came to help give her some extra muscle! :P So cute!

It didn't last long though...and then they were at each other! Haha!

Good old fashion family fun! :D

Don't Be Late For a Very Important Date!

>> Wednesday, September 21, 2016

Saturday was a busy day for us. Walker had Hoco, Jared's sister Julie came to town, and Alayna had a Stake Activity Day activity!!

The activity was themed Alice in Wonderland. It was based off Pres. Monson's talk in last General Conference called, "Choices". Here is an excerpt from it:

"When we left our premortal existence and entered mortality, we brought with us the gift of agency. Our goal is to obtain celestial glory, and the choices we make will, in large part, determine whether or not we reach our goal.
Most of you are familiar with Alice in Lewis Carroll’s classic novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. You will remember that she comes to a crossroads with two paths before her, each stretching onward but in opposite directions. As she contemplates which way to turn, she is confronted by the Cheshire Cat, of whom Alice asks, “Which path shall I follow?”
The cat answers, “That depends where you want to go. If you do not know where you want to go, it doesn’t matter which path you take.”
Unlike Alice, we know where we want to go, and it does matter which way we go, for the path we follow in this life leads to our destination in the next life.
May we choose to build up within ourselves a great and powerful faith which will be our most effective defense against the designs of the adversary—a real faith, the kind of faith which will sustain us and will bolster our desire to choose the right. Without such faith, we go nowhere. With it, we can accomplish our goals."

She had so much fun! They made a Cheshire mouth, a necklace (I'll post a pic later. She accidentally left it at her Uncle's house)  and a piece of a quilt for baby blankets to go to babies who were born too early.

Yep that's my daughter karate kicking for the picture! LOL! Goofy girl! :P

She had such a great time. She made a new friend and she learned about how important it is to make good choices now so as she gets older she will be happy!

So grateful for all of the leaders who put so much time and effort into these activities! <3

Financial Milestones

>> Tuesday, September 20, 2016

The day before Homecoming I took Walker down the bank to open a checking account. Jared and I decided it will be much easier to transfer money over and for him to make purchases with a debit card than cash. Besides I really dislike touching money. It's filthy! lol!

He put in his own money and we added a little extra for the dance. He was able to pay for dinner and it went seamlessly! When he gets a job he'll be able to direct deposit money into his account too. He's growing up!! :D

Homecoming 2016

>> Monday, September 19, 2016

Let me catch you up on a few things. I posted about Walker asking Janee to Hoco (that's what the cool kids call it these days :P ) she loved it and was going to reply by getting a sheet and cutting holes in it. She was going to add a note saying: "Holy sheet!!! Yes I'll go to Hoco with you!" We died when Walker told us that! So funny!!! LOL!!

Unfortunately she had a conflict with her group she does plays with. They were having a performance that night. Darn it! :(

We talked with Walker about it to see if there was anyone else he thought he might like to go with? He mentioned a girl he's had a few classes with be he didn't know her very well. The next week he got up his nerve and at the end of class walked over to her and just asked her in class. :) After doing a big "ask" for Janee he felt a little deflated and wasn't entirely sure Elizabeth would say!

Well I've always known Walker is a "catch" but it's awesome when BOTH girls you ask say (or wanted to say) YES!

He did say it was a little awkward since it was at the end of class. She was caught off guard and surprised. I'm sure she had 100 thoughts of excitement, what she going to wear, giddiness, and all sorts of emotions ran through her mind in those few seconds. It's what girls do..LOL! :P But she said YES right then! Woohoo!

Planning for Homecoming was a bit of a mountain moving experience for all of us. :P Walker really stepped up to the plate and took charge. He made the plans and got everyone to commit. It was really great to see his maturity with it all.  The biggest issue he had is that he still hasn't gotten his license yet. He's really close but just needs more hours on the road before he can comfortably drive another human being around town. :P So we had to make sure his friend Nelson was able to double and provide the taxi service he needed. After everything was finalized after a few 1000 texts, phone calls, and more texts the day arrived and we were all grateful! :D

Walker got up at 4:30am that morning and the kids went on a sunrise hike up at Usery Pass. Walker provided breakfast for everyone. Blueberry muffins and juice. It was a gorgeous morning he said. :)

My friend Tennille has a wedding business with her husband. She does flower arrangements and I asked her if she could make us a corsage. She said she'd be happy to. We went and picked it up after he got home. She did a beautiful job!

We took Walker shopping earlier in the week to get him a suit and a tie to match Elizabeth's dress. We were so happy she chose an easy color to match. Navy blue is pretty and simple to find!

Jared helping Walker put on cologne! LOL! He's saying,"I'm going to squirt this and you walk through it." LOL!

Getting everything in order, checking to make sure he has his wallet and tickets. :)

Final hair check. :D

He cleans up pretty well right!?! He looks SO handsome!!! I was so excited and emotional! LOL! Very nostalgic day as I thought about Jared and I doing this about 23 years ago! So nuts!

Nelson picked him up from the house and then they went to get their dates. We met them at a park and I took their pictures for the dance. Apparently they don't offer pictures at the event anymore. Who knew? The park was PACKED with a billion kids. We luckily found a little corner with some shade that offered a good place to take them.

Walker & Elizabeth
I mean come on!!!! Such an adorable couple!!!! My heart is just a puddle!

I love seeing their personalities shine! :D

Nelson & Hailey

Jared & Sophia

Ben & Emma

And just like that they were off for an awesome night! :)

Walker chose Rigatony's for dinner. He loves that place. They had a nice time at dinner but I guess it didn't take quite as long as they thought so they went over to Nelson's for games for a while. They headed to the dance and cut a rug and then he was home by 11:30pm.

I wanted all the details as soon as he got home but he was so tired from waking up so early that morning and staying out so late he came in took a shower and hit the sack! LOL! It was hard to be patient!

I'm so happy he was able to go. The group of friends were really great and everyone had a memorable time! :D
