Praying for Answers

Eli has been having severe stomach pain since the beginning of January. We've been to several doctor appointments, hes had an x-ray and every lab test under the sun completed, and everything keeps coming back "normal".  With the exception of the x-ray. That did show he had a blockage and they put him on Miralax to help him with that and with the prep of today we are certain he's clean as whistle! LOL!

The Pediatrician finally decided she was at the end of what she could do for him so she referred us to a GI Specialist. Miraculously, she was able to get us in that same week! Specialist usually are so booked it takes months to get in to see them. After our appointment with the Specialist she determined we needed to get a better look so she ordered an endoscopy/colonoscopy. Again she had a cancellation and was able to get us in on! Which happens to be Leap Day! :P  Tender mercies all around! God is good!!!

Eli had to do some prepping the day before and he was pretty hungry/thirsty by 9am when he was scheduled to go in. He also has never had an I.V. before and he has a crazy phobia of needles so this was really tough for him. He was pretty anxious, nervous, scared, you name it. I kept reassuring him it was going to be ok. They give laughing gas well before the I.V. goes in and you won't even notice it. But somethings you have to experience before you believe mom, the nurses, doctor, and the anesthesiologist!!! LOL!!!

This is how he felt about the whole thing!!!

The nerves didn't get much better once he was changed and in the hospital bed.... Look at that face...:(

It was time to go back and get to the bottom of pun intended...LOL!!! Ok maybe a little intended...Hahaha!

This is him coming out of the anesthesia in recovery. He was pretty out of it. He was in a lot of pain from the air they pump in but he did a great job.

Once he was alert enough they allowed him to have some apple juice. His mouth was like the Sahara Desert and he said the apple juice was like nectar from the Gods! It was the BEST apple juice he's ever had in his life!!! LOL!!

He sucked that thing down in seconds! :P

The doctor came in and met with us and went over some preliminary results. She said that his intestines looked good. She didn't see any abnormalities but the biopsies will be back in a day or two and we'll know more then.

Then it was time to get dressed and get out of that place! But not without letting him choose a stuffed animal for being a good patient! He picked that bear for Alayna! What an AWESOME big brother! Even when he's sick he thinks of his little sister! <3

The nurse gave us instructions to take it easy for lunch since his belly just went through quite an ordeal the past day or so. So we decided to hit Sonic for a healthy Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake! :P

I think he was happy to finally eat! He was ravenous!

Jared has been out of town since last Tuesday and doesn't come home until tomorrow. It's made for a very long and stressful week. We've missed him a lot. He has a way of helping us all stay calm when things get crazy. Eli wanted a big juicy cheeseburger for dinner so we went to Red Robin. It's our favorite place! We sent this pic to Jared telling him we miss him and wish he was here with us!!!

I'll keep you posted on all the results.

Our Rembrandt

Alayna started taking an art class after school called Young Rembrandts. Unfortunately, we've been so sick this year with the flu she missed half of the classes. :(

She did make it to the other half though and I just love to see how awesome she is! I can't draw at all. I'm blown away at what she is able to do. I love it!!!!!

Here are her masterpieces!

She's in the 3rd grade this year and I think I'll never be as good as her! <3

One of Those Days....

>> Thursday, February 25, 2016

It's been a crazy couple of months! Our family can't seem to stay well. The cold/flu season just won't leave us alone and Eli has been having severe stomach pain since the beginning of January. My "Mom Brain" has been exceptionally forgetful and it didn't fail me today either!

We had just left the GI Specialist for Eli (more on this later) and stopped at Walmart on the way home for a few things. When we were done I tried to open the car and guess what...I couldn't... I had locked the keys inside! Blarg!

Thankfully my dear friend AnnMarie was able to save us and she drove over to the house and got the spare from Walker who was home sick from school. She is a LIFE SAVER!

I wasn't even sure who to call since Jared has been out of town all week! Thank goodness for awesome friends! <3

When we got home we were bringing in the groceries and Eli flung a bag onto the counter and it crashed into this vase and knocked my Valentine's Day flowers on to the floor. :( The only reason this is a big deal is Jared gave me that vase when we first started dating in High School. I've had it for 23 years! I'm a little heartbroken as you can imagine. Oh well....It's just a "thing".

It's been one of those days......

In Progress......

>> Friday, February 19, 2016

Last spring we had to rip out all of the plants and a giant tree from our back yard. You can read more about it here. We haven't done anything with it until now...but it's still very much work in progress. :)

These are the "BEFORE'S"....just a a bunch of rock and dirt still....

Jared took this nifty panoramic pic. :)

We purchased some pygmy palms and some big clay pots.

We also planted a hibiscus on the other side of the rocks.

We got some lighting for around the pool and planted some really neat succulents!

I'm loving these succulents!! They are so cool! Now if I can just keep them alive! LOL!

The backyard is slowly coming together. We need to build a wall around the pool equipment and add some more plants back there. If we can figure out where to get the materials we want we want to build a pergola along the back wall and add some chairs and a table too. I'll keep you posted on our progress! :D

Activity Days Fieldtrip to the Veterinarian Hospital

>> Thursday, February 18, 2016

Alayna is so lucky. She has to coolest Activity Day Leaders ever! :)

On Wed. they planned a fieldtrip to a Veterinarian Hospital. A family in our Stake owns it and they were so thrilled to have the girls come and check out their facility, play with some animals, teach them about responsibility, and learn more about them! :) The girls were also ecstatic!!! :)

Alayna is petting a hedgehog! :)

This was her favorite part...holding a mouse!!!!

She adores animals. She was in heaven! This was such an awesome experience for all the girls! I'm so grateful for wonderful leaders who put in so much time and effort to make these programs so awesome!!

Valentine's Celebrations

>> Monday, February 15, 2016

For our family Valentine's we decided to take the kids out to a new fondue place called Everyone Loves Fondue. It's a quick service type place and you can choose what cheeses you like, and what you want to dip. They also have different chocolate dips and sweet things to dip in them as well.

Alayna doesn't look too happy but trust me she was thrilled to be there! :P It's just impossible to get everyone to cooperate all at the same time...LOL!

We stuffed ourselves silly!!!

Jared was so thoughtful and got me a bouquet of flowers and even got Alayna a rose! :) They were beautiful. I wasn't feel well at all over Valentine's. I had the flu of the was pretty bad. But he really took care of me and made sure I knew he thought of me.

And it's just not Valentine's unless we have our chocolate covered strawberries!!! YUM!!!!!

We had a nice weekend. So thankful for my sweet family. They are my loves!!!!

My Little Valentine!

>> Friday, February 12, 2016

Alayna's class had their Valentine Party today. She asked me to come and I couldn't say not to that sweet face! :)

They passed out their Valentine's, ate tons of sweets, snacks, and goodies! I mean it was quite a spread they had...LOL!!! I love to see her with her friends too!

I feel so blessed that I am able to be a stay at home mom. I love being able to go to all of my kids' activities and be there for all of these moments. Time is flying by. I'm grateful for these memories!

Happy Valentine's Day!! <3
