Daddy Daughter Dance!!

>> Friday, March 28, 2014

I just said good-bye to Alayna and Jared as they left for the Daddy Daughter Luau Dance!!

Alayna has been giddy all week. She LOVES her Daddy so much and adores spending one on one time with him. :)

Jared is such a great dad and tries to make her feel like a Princess. I love those two! :)

I can't wait to hear all about it when they get home!!!! :D

I think they might have had a GREAT time!!! :P So funny! :D

The King!

>> Wednesday, March 26, 2014

It's that time of year again....Pinewood Derby!!!

This is the last pinewood derby car Jared & our boys will make. I think everyone gave a sigh of relief with this news at the end of the races this year! :)

Eli has gone with the "Cars" theme from Pixar. This year he made King.

Eli & his buddy Amir. Eli recuited Amir into Cubs. :)

Eli's 3 cars from all his races. His 1st car was Lightening (center), 2nd Ramone (right), and 3rd King (left).

Jared and Eli really did a great job!

Our boys like to go for "style" over speed. We've never won...but their cars are keepsakes and they proudly display them in their rooms! :) Great job Eli!!!

Desert Botanical Garden

>> Friday, March 21, 2014

Alayna and her class went on a fieldtrip to the Desert Botanical Garden yesterday, and I was lucky enough to go and be a chaperone. I feel very blessed that I am able to go with my kids on their school trips. :)

Doesn't this face look happy!?! :) She was so excited to see and learn more about the desert plants and animals! Mrs. Smith is such an amazing teacher and the entire class already knew SO much about the different cacti, trees, plants and animals. I was impressed!

We also had an extra special treat at the Garden. The Chihuly Exibit was still going on and we were able to see some the of the beautiful works of art there. Here is a little blurb from the Exibit and the Artist:

"Discovery and surprise await you on the Garden trails. Artist Dale Chihuly returns to the Desert Botanical Garden this fall with a stunning exhibition of his extraordinary and vibrant works of art. Chihuly is credited with revolutionizing the Studio Glass movement and elevating the perception of the glass medium from craft to fine art. He is renowned for his ambitious architectural installations around the world, in historic cities, museums and gardens. Chihuly’s work is included in more than 200 museum collections worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Corning Museum of Glass. Major exhibitions includeChihuly Over Venice (1995-96), Chihuly in the Light of Jerusalem (1999), Garden Cycle (2001– present),and displays at the de Young Museum in San Francisco (2008), the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (2011) and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond (2012). Chihuly Garden and Glass opened at Seattle Center in 2012. Chihuly Garden and Glass opened at Seattle Center in 2012."

These were just a small sampling of the art there. It was so neat to see!

Alayna and her group had a fun time with our guide. She was the sweetest elderly lady who really got into her role playing with the kids! They just ate it up!! :)

We saw a cute little woodpecker...look close and you can see him in the cactus. :)

It was a lot of fun being able to tag along with Alayna and her class. I just love my sweet girl to pieces! :)

The desert really is a beautiful place to live. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else but here. It's home.....

Cutie Patootie!

>> Wednesday, March 19, 2014

Miss Alayna is becoming a young lady and is starting to voice her opinions about her 'style'. :) This year she has cut her hair...a lot! We've always kept it pretty long. About mid back or so.

Once Mr.Spencer got a hold of her locks we had to cut it and she wanted it really short then. I couldn't bare to let her go too short cuz I love her gorgeous hair so we compromised.

Well here we are a few months later and she asked to get it cut to the length she originally wanted. How could I resist? She's so cute!
Our Bishop's wife Sis. Hawk cuts hair in her home after school most days and we made an appointment with her and she gave her the cutest cut! :) Alayna just LOVES it!!! :)

I had nothing to worry about...she is beautiful no matter what style she wears! ;) It's fun to see her personality emerging and what she likes!!

Eli had is final Chorus Concert tonight! The theme was based off of Harry Potter. The kids worked hard. There were a lot of solos by the 6th graders and dance moves by everyone in the group!

I'd say Eli makes quite a handsome wizard! :)

The big finale was a song the children and the teacher wrote themselves to the tune of "What Does the Fox Say?" It was clever! :)

Great job Eli!

Wedding Bells are Ringing!!

>> Wednesday, March 5, 2014

This weekend was 'wedding weekend' for me. :) After I helped the Sheridan's with their wedding our sweet little niece Michelle & her fiance Cedric asked me to take their engagement photos. I of course "said yes!!"...Ok, bad joke I know..but I thought it was funny! :P

I've posted a sample of the ones I took. All of them turned out so could they not..these two were so fun to work with and they were hysterical! :)

The wedding day is next month, on Saturday, April 19th 2014, and we are so happy for the both of them. They've had a whirlwind romance, but when the Lord puts you together why waste any time!?! :D

Congratulations Michelle & Cedric!!
