Earn Your Keep!

>> Saturday, April 27, 2013

I briefly mentioned in an earlier post that Walker will be going on a river rafting expedition in June. Well this week long trip doesn't come cheap so he is earning his keep and doing odd jobs to pay for it. :)

Luckily he has a sweet little sister who LOVES to clean and offered to give him a helping hand. :P

Eli wanted to help but didn't want to get his boot wet.

They loved it when Jared sprayed them...I mean the car...LOL!

Eli couldn't help himself...he wanted to join in on the fun!

They all did a great job and it was nice to see Alayna and Eli helping out their big brother. It only took 2 hours to get it done but it looked great in the end! :P

Eli's Academic Night!

>> Thursday, April 25, 2013

Eli earned his way into Academic Night this year. Students have to be in 4th-6th grade and receive straight A's (and can only have 1 B) all year long. Eli has been hard at work in school this year and it's paid off! :)

He qualified for ALP last year in 3rd grade. In 4th grade they are pulled out of the classroom and have a separate teacher for either Math or Language or both. Eli goes to both.

The new ALP teacher this year used to teach Jr. High/High School ALP students and she challenges the students she has now at practically the same level. Eli has proven however, that he can do hard things and meet high expectations!

Eli and his best friend Amir. These two are as thick as thieves. They are inseparable! It was so neat to see them together last night.

The moment we've all been waiting for. They called his name...

He walks across the stage...

Mr. Nash presents his pin and shakes his hand...

Then he hightails it off the stage!!! LOL!! :P I guess he was done with is 15 seconds of fame. :P

We are so proud of you Eli. We know how much you worked to get here. You should be proud of yourself too! :) Great job!!!!!!

We finished off the night with a little something at Dairy Queen! I think he looks pretty happy about that! :) I'm one proud Mama! :D

Court of Honor

>> Tuesday, April 23, 2013

I feel like it's been forever since I've blogged about Walker. He did have a band concert about a month ago but I wasn't able to go since I'm the Cub Scout Committee Chair for our Pack and it fell on the same night as Pack Meeting. I sent Jared but he forgot to take a pic of him. :(

So Walker had his Court of Honor tonight and wouldn't ya know it...Little Miss has strep throat and I wasn't able to go. :( This time I reminded and double reminded Jared to take pictures so there would be proof Walker still does exist! LOL! He did a good job...However, cell phones don't take the best pics so please excuse the blurriness. :P

Walker was apart of the color guard.

He received his Citizenship in the Nation and Citizenship in the World merit badges.

Retrieving the Colors.

At the end of the meeting they discussed the upcoming Scout Camp this summer. They are planning to take the boys on on a white water river rafting week long trip!! My heart is trying to take this in and I'm trying to not freak out too much. They don't think they will have any room for Dads to go and that just adds to my heart palpitations! Let's all just have a little prayer that everyone will be safe! :P

10 Years & Counting!!!!

>> Sunday, April 14, 2013

Today is Eli's actual birthday and I couldn't let it pass without looking back at the how much my sweet baby boy has grown over the years. And boy has he grown!

What a handsome young man!! I just love the picture of him in the yellow shirt! Ha! :P

10 years ago we welcomed our little Eli into our lives. However, he wasn't so little weighing in at 9lbs. 3oz. he surprised us all! He wasn't too sure about this new place and had a set of lungs to let you and everyone else know about it! You could hear him coming and going with his protesting cries!

Once he was in my arms though he was all mine and he was quite content to be there...literally, 24/7.... He was a Mama's Boy from the beginning! :)

He's changed our lives and has taught us so much. He is everything a mother could hope her son would be. He is incredibly smart, loyal, kind, loving, happy, funny, boisterous, hard working, determined, and loves to play any game anytime anywhere with anyone! :)

I guess turning ten earns you 2 birthday cakes! Eli and I saw this cake and couldn't decide if we should make it for his party or make the traditional cake. He went the traditional Oreo Ice Cream Cake route..but today I surprised him and made this Oreo Cookie Cake for our family to enjoy. It was SO goood! We were all glad it was his bday today! LOL!

Eli, I don't know how a decade has come and gone. I do know that I'm ever so grateful for each day that has passed and that I have been so blessed to be your Mom. You are an amazing person and I thank our Father in Heaven for allowing me to be apart of your life. You are one of my greatest joys!

Happy Birthday Little Dude! I love you!!!!

Happy 10th Birthday Eli!!!

>> Saturday, April 13, 2013

It's really hard for me to believe that it has been a decade since Eli came into our lives! I remember like it was yesterday this 9lb. 3oz. bundle being laid in my arms. He was a Mama's Boy from the beginning. The only time he would stay calm and quiet was if he was being held by me....litterally...24/7! LOL!

Fast forward 10 years and he's the most outgoing, adventurous, free spirit!

Yesterday we had 11 of his closest friends come over for a late night to celebrate this momentous occasion. :)

Grandma and Grandpa Morrison got him this awesome Jumbo Ball! It was a great gift and all his friends thought it was the bomb! :P

He invited friends from school and church. Only 2 of them couldn't make it. That's a pretty amazing turn out. I think it says a lot about Eli and his friendships with others. They all made a big effort to be there for him. This year in particular we've seen him flourish and mature into this go-getter self reliant individual. Friends have become a more prominent facet in his life and he treats each one in such a way that they all feel like they are his best friend. I feel that is the greatest test of an amazing friend!

The party started at 5:30 pm and everyone came hungry. I made 7 pizzas and they were gone in a FLASH!

Then it was time for some fun and games!

This is how they play video games...inches from the screen. They just couldn't sit down! :P

This game is called "Sweet Sucker". The object is to get as many M&M's into the other bowl as possible in one minute. At the end you get to eat all that you moved over and the person who got the most got a prize!

Next, it was time for cake!

Look at that face! I couldn't get him to break "character". He sat that way through the entire Birthday Song! What a HAM!!! LOL!

He made his wish and blew out the candles.

It's become tradition for the boys to request my Oreo Cookie Ice Cream Cake. It's the easiest thing to make and it tastes sooooo good! :)

We then moved on to the important matters....presents! :)

Around 8pm we put on Rise of the Guardians. Some of the boys watched the movie, while some played Lego's  and others played outside in the backyard being the wild animals they are. I'm sure our neighbors were grateful when 10 pm rolled around and everyone went home! LOL! My walls in the house were shaking with all those rambunctious kids! :)

It was a great night and Eli had a blast...and that's what's most important. Double digits is a pretty big deal and my life hasn't been the same since he came into it. All for the better of course.

Happy Birthday Eli we love you so much!

May The Force Be With You...

>> Thursday, April 11, 2013

Eli finally went to a specialist today for his sprained foot/ankle. They decided to give him a fancy shmancey boot. It looks surprisingly similar to a Storm Trooper boot! LOL!

The doctor said that the part of his foot he sprained is one of the slowest healing. So we have to be patient and give it time. Not exactly what we were hoping to hear. The good news is it's not torn so he doesn't need surgery. Eli was QUITE relieved to hear that!! :)

It will take some time for him to get used to the boot. It's sorta heavy and awkward to walk in, but it will be so much easier for him to get around, and it frees up his hands not having to use those darn crutches anymore!

We pray everyday that his foot will heal. It's so hard not being able to play and run around they way he wants to. Of all my kids he's my most sporty/active one and this has been a real challenge for him. We had to pull him out of football for the entire season as well. That was a low blow. :(

He's supposed to go back to the podiatrist in 3 weeks and hopefully things will have progressed for the better!

Happy Easter Festivities!!

>> Monday, April 1, 2013

I love Easter!

Last year we started doing a 30 day countdown devotional on "The Living Christ", and we've done it again this year. It's a tradition now. :) As we've been studying Christ's life, ministry, sacrifice, atonement, and resurrection, my heart has been full of gratitude. I love how when reading the scriptures I learn something new or take something new away each time as I grow in my testimony and relationship with my Savior. I've come to really appreciate even more this year in particular, the Apostles, and the sacrifices they made as they bore witness and testified of Christ. How difficult it must have been for them and yet how marvelous it must have been for them to bring the truth to their fellow man. I'm so thankful for this time of year and that as a family we were able to ponder the greatest gifts we could ever receive, redemption from sin and eternal life!

Our Easter Tree!

Along with the spiritual we of course had fun too with our traditional egg dying night. :)

We also went to the Easter Pageant at the Mesa Temple!

It has been years...literally... since we've gone to the Easter Pageant. I think Alayna was about a year old the last time we went. She's 6 now! It was really hard for the kids to show up so early to get a good spot and then sit through the hour long production. But they are all older now and each one of them said the really loved going. So I think it will be on our list of traditions again.:P

We brought games, books, and lots of food to help the time pass. :D

On Easter Sunday we went to Grandma & Grandpa Morrison's for "Linner" (lunch/dinner). After we stuffed ourselves silly we had an Easter egg hunt!

Eli got a little help from Dad...what a trooper!

Don't you love how Grandpa is wearing Alayna's flower headband? LOL!!

It was a wonderful day at church celebrating and commemorating this sacred day and spending time with our family. I'm thankful for my Savior and my Heavenly Father and all that I have been given through their love, grace, and mercy.
