Just a Little Somethin'

>> Saturday, March 30, 2013

Alayna is our little artist for sure! She draws better than I do! LOL!
Here are a couple of her latest masterpieces. :)

Left to right: Dad (I love that she always draws his hair like that..lol), Alayna, & Mom. I guess we are outside playing in the rain! Sounds like fun! :)

This one I loved because we have been doing our annual 30 day countdown to Easter devotional all month and this was her interpretation of Mary and Mary Magdalene visiting Jesus in the tomb. Mary Jesus' mother is very sad. It really touched my heart. She's so precious!

Get it Together Tooth Fairy!

>> Thursday, March 28, 2013

I guess our Tooth Fairy has us on a busy route and has forgotten one too many times to visit Eli on the night he loses a tooth. Yesterday he lost another tooth at school and last night I found this outside his door.

Now if that doesn't pull at your heartstrings what will??? I'm happy to report that his plea was successful and she came last night!!! Whew...I'm sure glad Eli didn't have to be sad...;P

Eli's Pinewood Derby 2013

Last night was Eli's 2nd Pinewood Derby Race. He and Jared have been working on this car non-stop for about a week. It was a true labor of love. I can't even tell you how much this car ended up costing us. LOL!

Thankfully we have some awesome friends with some awesome wood working tools and they were kind enough to let us come over and take the plain block of wood and turn it into car.

Not too shabby huh? :) Can you tell who this car is yet?? I'll let you wait a little longer to find out. :)

Primer coat.

Color coat.

Working on those wheels to make a super speedy car!

Getting to use power tools is the best part!

And now for the BIG reveal.....

Eli made Ramone from the movie "Cars"!!! And yes he is in the oven. Jared read online to help the paint to dry to stick it in the oven overnight with the light bulb on. It worked like a charm! :P

Last year Eli made Lightening McQueen. They boys like to pick a theme and run with it each year. :) Here are some close ups...

It turned out so cool!!! :D

Then it was ready for action!

Hmmm...does that Lightening McQeen car look familiar? It should! It was Eli's car from last year. Eli invited his friend Amir (who I totally didn't get a picture of that night..darn it..) to come to the races and he didn't have a car. Luckily we brought his old one for a "just in case back up car" and so Amir was able to race Eli's car!

When the line-up had both of his cars racing each other it was really cool to see how they faired against each other! :P Ramone may say he's "Low N Slo" but he beat Lightening every time! :P

Jared was so great and helped me out by running the races. What would I do with out him??? He's the best!

Eli's car didn't win but he placed higher than he did last year and that's pretty great! His car was awarded "Best Themed Car" and we'd certainly agree with that!

Great job Eli you worked really hard and we are proud of you! :D

Happy Birthday Dad!

>> Sunday, March 24, 2013

Yesterday we celebrated Dad's 62nd Birthday!! (Even though his bday was on Thursday :P ) The whole family went over to Mom & Dad's house and we had a good 'ol fashioned BBQ.

Dad's favorite dessert is blackberry cobbler. The stars aligned and blackberries were on sale this week so I whipped up a pan just for him! ;)

However, I forgot candles so we tried lighting matches....it didn't really work. LOL! He was able to get one lit and make a wish at least. Boy my mouth is watering just thinking about that cobbler! Good thing we left the rest of it with the Birthday Boy or I would have polished it off all by myself at home.

After we were all sufficiently stuffed Mom bought all the kids kites to fly. The weather couldn't have been more perfect that day for this fun little activity! :D

Alayna was so excited to get out there and give it a try.

Once Jared helped her get it up in the air she became quite the kite flying expert. Her kite flew for hours!

Of course the boys and all the cousins didn't want to be left out of the fun so they quickly got theirs put together.

Poor Eli is still on crutches. He has at least another week on those things. It makes flying a kite a little challenging.

Walker decided being barefoot would be the optimal way to run around the street to fly his kite. LOL!

I'm pretty sure the Dad's were having just as much fun as the kids. :P

With so many kites so close together there were a few "problems". Jared is quickly trying to un-knot the intertwined mass of string!

And then there are those darn trees that creep up on you and eat your kite! Hehehe!

The Birthday Boy didn't want to be shown up so he pulled out his super cool dragon kite.

Looking good Dad!

Grandma saving the day with scissors. Did I mention there were a lot of collisions? :P

The sky looked really cool with 8 or so kites flying in the air. (I unfortunately didn't get a pic of all of them at the same time.) All of the neighbors came out into the street to see what our crazy family was up to. It was so much fun! :D

We flew kites for hours. The weather was gorgeous, the food was delicious, and the company was great!
Happy Birthday Dad!!!
