Wild West!

>> Friday, November 30, 2012

Alayna's class went to Rockin 'R' Ranch for a fieldtrip! Jared and I chaperoned together. Alayna thought that was the coolest thing ever! :)

Learning how to lasso!

Dad giving some pointers!

Riding the....hay cow?! :P

Alayna got too warm so she had Dad carry her sweater. Don't you think he looks fabulous? LOL!

Our little cowgirl!

The Class.

A tourist attraction isn't complete with out a wooden cut out! :P

It's hard to see but they are feeding a sheep. Well, they are really 'trying' to feed the sheep. I think it had already had it's fill and they were force feeding the poor thing! Hahaha!

Practicing riding in a saddle.

And of course...panning for gold.

It was hard work!

Last but not least they each took a turn learning how to use the grinding stones the Indians used to use.

It was a quick but fun fieldtrip. Alayna thought it was pretty great having us both there and it was neat to see her learn about the Wild West! :D

Are You My Mother?

>> Saturday, November 3, 2012

Jared was cutting down the Cat Claw vine out front and he found this sweet little treasure!

We were pretty confident that the mother had abandoned the nest and that there wasn't a live baby inside, so Jared showed it to Alayna and she was so thrilled and couldn't believe her luck! She took this humming bird nest and loved it and cuddled it and cared for it as if it was the greatest treasure on earth! That was until she dropped it.....the egg broke and Alayna fell to pieces too. It was a heart-breaker. Thankfully we had taken a picture of it before the 'incident' and she has it hanging in her room with the empty nest. :)

It really is amazing how tiny it is. Hard to believe something so beautiful comes from something so small. I love humming birds. They always remind me of my Grandmother Bernal. ;)

Happy Halloween!!

>> Thursday, November 1, 2012

It's that time of year. The weather is gorgeous and the kiddies are itching to do some serious dressing up and Trick-or-Treating!

Alayna got her pumpkin on her field trip to Schnepf Farms. She did an awesome job! However, mom fell down on the job and waited too long to take a picture of it. The grey stuff in the eyes look like cobwebs...but it's mold!! I guess 'both' are pretty scary and creepy!! LOL!

Eli took charge of the family pumpkin carving this year. He found the stencil, cut it out, and did the whole thing by himself! I think he did an amazing job!! :)

Even though we went to Disneyland and got gobs of candy at Mickey's Halloween Party, the kids wanted to go out and get more! We had Walker's friend Chase over this year and of course Sammy who always sneaks into the pictures! LOL!

The kids came home tired, bags stuffed full, and pleased with their evenings' efforts!! :)
