The Results....

>> Friday, April 29, 2011

Today was Election Day. Walker was pretty nervous, but feeling confident of his chances. They announced the results on the loud speaker at 3:05pm, right before they got out of school.

His name wasn't announced for Secretary.

Darn...We'll get 'em next time!!! :)

We are so proud of Walker for giving it his best shot and working so hard on his campaign. He's been blessed with the gift of public speaking and being so outgoing. Jared and I marvel at him...we both definitely don't possess those talents!

He was heart broken when he came home to tell me. I reminded him of the most important part, which is that he gave it his absolute BEST! That's all we can ask of him and he of himself. We couldn't be more proud of him! :D

This has given him experience and will definitely help him in the future! :) We are proud of you kiddo!

Joining the Pack

>> Thursday, April 28, 2011

Another 1st for Eli this month...He's now a Cub Scout!!! :D

Last night was his first Pack Meeting and his Den, the Wolves, lead the flag ceremony. It was adorable! :) He's been 'dying' to be in scouts since Walker started 3 years ago, and it's finally his turn. He's super excited!

He's already been working hard and received his Bobcat!

When the boys receive a rank advancement the Cub Master always does some kind of ritual to acknowledge them. Bro. Campbell likes to put this fox pelt on their head to welcome them into the Pack. The boys love it! (It sorta grosses me out!)

Since behind every great Cub Scout is an awesome Mom, we get a pin too and a sweet hug from our boy! It's very important to document such occasions...I know as they get older these will be fewer and fewer. I'm just going to cherish it for now! :D

Running for Office

>> Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Walker has decided to run for Student Council Secretary for next year. Only 5th graders are allowed to run.

He's already turned in his first essay last week stating why he believes he'd be a good candidate.

"I see myself fulfilling the tasks of student council officer quickly, efficiently, and completely. I am the best person for secretary because I listen well and have great grades; I am fun, friendly, and lastly good with people. I also know a lot of the students at school.

The most difficult part of being the secretary will be making sure I take complete and accurate notes. I am also involved in Cub Scouts, play the piano, and work hard to get all of my homework done, so I am looking forward to the challenge of balancing all of these activities.

I do believe that the people of student council should be a role model. I think that because people look up to them. If they misbehave, the students might misbehave also. Being a role model means behaving and helping others. Being a good leader entails listening to what other students have to say. By being a good example to my classmates they will respect me and trust that I will do a good job as secretary."

Last night we worked on his posters. We were up til about 11pm getting them done, but I think they turned out GREAT! Jared went to the school this morning to help him hang them up and they were pleased with our hard work! :)

The writing on the poster is hard to read it says:

Others talk. Walker acts.

Research shows that Walker's unique mix of leadership and humor can help build school spirit. And his intellect can help everyone reach their full potential. So vote for Walker Kitch for Secretary.

Yesterday he wrote his speech that will be broadcast live on Friday at school.

"Hi my name is Walker Kitch. I’m running for Student Council Secretary. If you vote for me for Secretary you’ll get desert for lunch, rocket powered swings, jungle gym robots, a circus in the field, a full length football field, and talking will be allowed in class. Kidding! But, let me tell you about myself.

I come from a family of five. I’m the eldest child in my family. I play the trumpet and piano. I’ve played the piano since I was 5 ½. I’m also in A.L.P. I’ve been a straight ‘A’ student since Kindergarten. I’ve been in Cub Scouts for almost three years. And I like to read, play video games, and run around with my friends.

I think the Secretary should be neat, responsible, organized, and like to write. I try to be neat, I am responsible for many things, try to keep organized, and love to write. As Secretary I will try to improve our school and gain leadership skills. I would love to share my creative ideas and talents with Settler’s Point and the Student Council. For example, I would like to create different Spirit Days. Some of them would be the Ultimate Wacky Day and Funny Face Day.

So, as you can see I would be the BEST choice for Student Council Secretary. So remember to vote Walker Kitch for Secretary!!"

We also made these stickers to pass out to the student body to remind them to vote for Walker! :)

Election day is Friday...keep your fingers crossed!!! :D

Eli's BIG Day!

Eli had his baptism today! :)

I L-O-V-E this picture. I captures so much joy and I can't help but smile when I see it! This was the cover of the program.

Inside of the program.

Eli played "When I am Baptized",with his piano teacher Taylor McCrady. If you are looking for a FANTASTIC piano teacher...she's your gal! :)

I love how confident Eli is. Look at that pose! LOL! :) He was thrilled that this day was all about him.

My adorable little family. :)

We had lots of family and friends come to show their love and support. Grandma and Grandpa Kitch drove 13 hours from Tremonton, Utah to be apart of Eli's special day!

Goofy cousins! :P

Marcos and Jen.

Robin, Hollie, and Dylan.

Grandma and Grandpa Morrison.

Boog and Alex.

Jared, Jeff and Jacob.

It was a beautiful service. Walker gave an awesome talk on the Holy Ghost and Alayna sung "I am a Child of God", and it was perfect! The Spirit is always so strong and tangible at baptisms, and today was no exception. It was a wonderful addition to this Easter weekend.

We are incredibly proud of you Eli! Congratulations!

I've said it before and I'll say it family just has a hard time getting in one good picture! It was bright outside today...can you tell??? LOL! This was as good as it got! ;P

After the service we had everyone over for a luncheon at the house. Jared smoked his first pork shoulder and it was soooooo good! We stuffed ourselves silly!

It Becomes a Garden"- Stouffer

Jared has been wanting to plant a garden for years. Last year he bought the wood but never got around to getting the soil. He finally jumped in with both feet, and last night he finished his little piece of Heaven. :)

Isn't it pretty? We can't wait to see if something actually comes out of there :P

Eight is GREAT!

We celebrated Eli's 8th Birthday on Saturday at Golfland in Mesa. He invited his best pals and had a rockin' time! :) The kids got unlimited video games while we were in the "Party Zone". They were in HEAVEN!! Once we pried them away from the games the Birthday Boy was crowned King. :P

He's trying really hard not to love it!! LOL!!

They even game him a special shirt to wear.

The kids filled up on pizza and rootbeer!

Starting on the front left: Andrew, Jeffery, Walker, Derek, Caellach, Nathan H., Eli, Noah, Tyler, Nathan W., Alayna, and Carter.

We ended with cupcakes!

After we had our table time we went out to do some serious Goofy Golfing. It was hilarious to see 12 kids try to golf. I didn't have my camera...sorry no pics of the antics. Guess you just had to be there! :P

This is just the beginning of 'Celebrate Eli Month'. To be continued........

WARNING: Libraries Are Not Good For Your Health

>> Friday, April 1, 2011

I got a call from the School Nurse about 15 min. before school was out today. She said she had Eli, and I needed to come get him as soon as possible.

I high-tailed it over to the school, and out came my boy with blood on his shirt and an ice pack on the back of his head. Apparently, he was in the Library sitting with some friends on the floor, and got to laughing so hard, he fell backwards into a pole and split the back of his head open!!!

Yet another trip to Urgent Care this year..I think that makes 4 times for our family since January!! What is going on!?!

Fast forward through filling out endless paperwork, waiting while child is in agony, waiting some more just because, and they finally decide to see him.
They irrigated the area which was really painful, put some Lidocaine on it to numb it up, and ended up with 3 staples in his head. He was a trooper. I was very proud of him. My poor guy! :(

I went to the fridge to make breakfast. To my surprise, I found this love-ly and mysterious note!

Don't you love it??? :D I sure do!

If only I knew who had written it....Thanks Eli! LOL! ;P
