Alayna's Baby Quilt

>> Saturday, February 28, 2009

There is a theme recently. I finished Alayna's scrapbook...And I also finally finished her baby quilt this week. I had it completed for the most part. I just needed to finish quilting around each Sun Bonnet Sue.

So here are a few different shots of it...hope you like it! I'm pretty sure Alayna will!! :)

This quilt was also the inspiration for her baby shower cake that my friend Jill made for us...

Wasn't it beautiful? I hope to be as good as her someday!

Stuffington Bear Factory

Eli's Kindergarten class went on a field trip on Friday to Stuffington Bear Factory in Phoenix. It's one of only two bear factories in the United States. The other factory is in Vermont!
The kids were able to walk through the factory and see all the different fabrics the animals are made from. Interestingly the main fiber is polyester, which we learned is actually just plastic. That's some soft plastic!
They also saw the giant saw they use to cut hundreds of layers of fabric at once, the sewing machines, and "big blue"..sorry no picture of him. It's a giant blue machine that blows the stuffing at an insane speed into the animals. :)
On our way out we saw this big bear and had to snap a picture with Eli's buddy Jeremy.
Eli's class was able to make their very own bear. He choose the purple bear (note this is before they were stuffed) and we chose the white bear for Alayna.
Here's Eli getting the bears full of their cuddly soft cotton. This machine is similar to "big blue" but it's red, lights up with pretty colors, and is much, much, much slower at filling the animals.
Daddy surprised Eli by meeting us at the factory for lunch...Dad is so awesome!
But, mom wanted in on the "awesomeness" too! :)

If you thought the first big bear was big...check this dude out!

The Tree of Life!!

>> Friday, February 13, 2009

Once upon a time long, long, ago in a far away place called Gilbert. There was a beautiful princess named Vanessa and her prince named Jared. They were very much in love and excitement filled the air.

One afternoon after they finished their studies, they decided to leave the Morrison Castle and go for drive. The roads leaving the castle were very treacherous and it was easy for the chariot to lose control if not driven carefully by the young prince. However, the Prince was over come with the desire to show off for the young Princess and their chariot slid from one side of the road to the other, then the other, and eventually into the well and ...."The Tree of Life!"

The well......

This noble tree saved the young lovers from certain death and destruction of the cottage owned by the Green Family. (Pictured on the right behind The Tree).

As the young coupled climbed out of the dilapidated chariot dazed, hurt, and frightened. They did what they could to compose themselves and walk back to the Morrison Castle, only to have the Queen come home early from her days errands and help the poor couple home.

The moral of the story here kids....is no matter how fun it might seem at the time, you must always keep control of your chariot! :)

This is a true story. The "well" is now repaired and paid for by the Prince. The "tree" still is standing today even though it took quite a blow. The "cottage" thank heaven was undamaged. And the Prince and Princess live Happily Ever After!!

I really want to go back and carve our initials into that part where the branch was cut off..doesn't it just look like it's inviting us to do it?

Papa & Grandma's Kitties

My parents went out of town for the weekend and asked Alayna and I to stop by and take care of the kitties and bring in the mail. Alayna LOVES kitties so even though she's still not feeling well she wanted to go over and help feed them.

"Kitty Momma!!"

She was so thrilled. After laying around all day yesterday I think it brightened her spirits to get out of the house and pay her friends a visit.

Good job baby girl!

I think the kitty was starving. He couldn't' eat it fast enough!

All done!

We stayed for a little bit so the kitties wouldn't be lonely. We told them about our morning and to make sure to keep the house safe while Papa and Grandma are away. We said our good-byes and told them we'd be back tomorrow. Maybe even with a special "Kitty Valentine!"

Here Goes Nothing..

>> Thursday, February 12, 2009

So my b.f.f. Jill has been harassing me for several months to start a blog. I've finally decided to give it a try and hopefully this will be a better record of our daily happenings than my journaling..which never gets done. :)

My children are my joy and my gray hair...I've said it before and I'll say it again. Today was no different with the cunning and Oscar winning acting of Walker totally faking being sick so he could stay home from school. Within an hour of everyone leaving for work and school he was running laps around the island in the kitchen...FAKER! OK I have to admit...I've faked being sick a few times when I was a kid too. Who hasn't? But this was just blatant "I want to get out of school today faking."

Proof is in the picture!

Alayna however,is truly sick...poor baby girl!

Isn't she so cute when she's sick?

She's been running a low grade fever and wants Mommy to hold her all day. I love to cuddle with my Sweets, so I can't really complain. I just feel bad for her.
